1983 Mazda Le Mans Prototype by Colani

In 1982 Luigi Colani had moved to Tokyo and accepted a position as a professor there. This resulted in collaboration with Mazda, for whom he proposed this radical Le Man’s car powered by a four-rotor Wankel engine producing 950hp and capable of 235mph.

At a later stage, the plan was to use a 4-chamber Mazda Wankel rotary engine, capable of between 960 and 1400 hp for the Le Mans vehicle, which was only available as a life-size model. Unfortunately, it never raced.
