The concept cars of 2012 ranged from hybrid supercars and electric delivery trucks to handmade coachbuilt coupes, hot-hatch prototypes and ideas that never left the drawing board. The year brought major debuts in Detroit, Geneva, Beijing, Paris, New Delhi, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, along with independent and regional reveals.
This alphabetical Story Cars guide includes 232 original 2012 concept debuts and separately named 2012 revisions, research prototypes and manufacturer-supported show builds. Custom bodywork, dark paint, lowered suspension and large wheels distinguished the car from a stock full-size sedan. The swap required substantial integration work around engine packaging, cooling and the driveline. Juiced was a one-off Mopar show car, not a production proposal for a V10 Charger, and its spectacular engine configuration remained outside the ordinary Charger range.
2012 Dodge Dart Carbon Fire Concept
The Dart Carbon Fire appeared in Mopar's 2012 SEMA display as a darker, more aggressive interpretation of Dodge's newly introduced compact sedan. Its carbon-fiber-look hood and other exterior accents were matched with a modified grille, black wheels, performance-oriented trim and a revised cabin. The project promoted Mopar personalization parts rather than a new engine or a fundamentally different suspension architecture. 2012 Ford Focus ST by Bojix Design
Bojix Design prepared a modified Focus ST for Ford's 2012 SEMA display. The build employed a custom body treatment, lowered ride height, larger alloy wheels and powertrain and exhaust modifications to give the five-door hot hatch a more aggressive character. Its vivid exterior finishing and specialized interior details were aimed at enthusiasts who wanted a distinctive road car. The underlying turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost and front-wheel-drive architecture made the production ST a practical modification platform. Ford displayed the project as an aftermarket collaboration; Bojix was not proposing a new mass-production Focus variant.

M&J Enterprises built a highly customized Ford Focus ST for the 2012 SEMA Show. The hatchback's compact, front-wheel-drive platform provided the basis for an altered exterior, distinctive wheel-and-tire package, suspension changes and a customized cabin. The project explored how Ford's first globally marketed Focus ST could appeal to the American tuner scene. It was part of a collection of individual Focus ST builds rather than a stand-alone design for the next generation of the car. Manufacturer engine and emissions figures for a standard Focus ST should not be assumed to describe the customized example after modification.
2012 Ford Focus ST by Steeda Autosports
Steeda Autosports developed a Focus ST project for SEMA in 2012, applying the company's performance-parts approach to Ford's new front-wheel-drive hot hatchback. Suspension upgrades, chassis braces, performance wheels and revised exterior details emphasized handling and traction rather than simply adding decorative accessories. The turbocharged EcoBoost engine remained the mechanical foundation, supplemented by tuning-related equipment. The completed show car demonstrated a package of specialist upgrades owners might apply to a production Focus ST. It was not a distinct Ford-manufactured car with a separate factory homologation or new drivetrain architecture.
2012 Ford Focus ST Tanner Foust Racing Concept
Tanner Foust Racing built a Focus ST concept for Ford's 2012 SEMA presentation using the new turbocharged hot hatch as a starting point.
