2024 Dongfeng Mengshi M-Hunter

The 2024 Dongfeng Mengshi M-Hunter is an ultra-capable, high-performance off-road vehicle, designed to push the boundaries of off-roading and luxury. Unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, this model follows the path of extreme off-roaders, with a design inspired by military technology and aerospace materials. The M-Hunter is a direct rival to the Brabus 900 Crawler, borrowing elements of its rugged, all-terrain capabilities while offering something uniquely aggressive and bespoke in its own right.

Built on the chassis of the M-Hero, the M-Hunter features four electric motors, likely sharing the same powertrain from the M-Hero, which generates a formidable 1088 horsepower. This setup ensures that the M-Hunter is ready for the most challenging terrains. It's equipped with massive, heavily treaded off-road tires, designed for enhanced traction and stability on rough, uneven surfaces. Unlike traditional off-roaders, the M-Hunter boasts an open design with lattice "gates" instead of conventional doors, alongside a tubular safety frame that replaces the roof, contributing to both its minimalist and ultra-durable aesthetic.

Inside, the M-Hunter continues its focus on performance and exclusivity with composite frame seats that offer enhanced lateral support and four-point safety belts, emphasizing its performance pedigree. The lack of rear seats is replaced by a cargo platform that can hold two spare wheels, ensuring that the vehicle is always prepared for the toughest conditions. The interior also features electric adjustments for the seats and a steering wheel instead of the usual conventional wheel, enhancing the off-road nature and usability.

The vehicle’s design is further enhanced by additional features such as an expedition rack, extra lighting, and a winch, which collectively position the M-Hunter as a luxury tool for off-road enthusiasts and adventurers who require a highly functional, yet exclusive, vehicle.

Dongfeng’s Mengshi brand intends to produce the M-Hunter in limited numbers, positioning it as an ultra-expensive off-roader, potentially making it one of the most expensive SUVs in the world. While the exact price is yet to be confirmed, it is expected to be in the millions of yuan, putting it in the same league as the Brabus 900 Crawler, which costs around $945,000. The M-Hunter will likely be produced in small batches, catering to collectors, high-net-worth individuals, and off-road enthusiasts who desire not just performance but exclusivity and status.
