The 2024 Scout Traveler Prototype represents a striking evolution of the Scout brand, highlighting the significant advancements in automotive technology over the past 44 years. Originally produced by International Harvester, the Scout line was retired in 1980 after two decades of service, leaving a legacy that Volkswagen aims to honor with its new electric SUV. Set to debut in 2027, the Scout Traveler combines retro inspiration with cutting-edge engineering.

Utilizing an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, the new Scout Traveler offers impressive performance and efficiency. The fully electric (BEV) variants are capable of traveling up to 350 miles (563 km) on a single charge, while the range-extender model can exceed 500 miles (805 km), thanks to its hybrid system that includes a small combustion engine for added range. This combination of nostalgic design and modern technology positions the Scout Traveler as a formidable contender in the electric SUV market, ready to tackle both urban environments and off-road adventures with confidence.
