2003 Nissan Redigo Concept

The 2003 Nissan Redigo Concept is designed as a fun, open-roof car that emphasizes an enjoyable driving experience for all four occupants. This concept vehicle features a unique sliding glass roof system that opens toward the center, allowing both front and rear passengers to enjoy the feeling of wind and open air while traveling. This design prioritizes shared enjoyment, making every journey a collective experience.

The Redigo's body has a rounded shape reminiscent of a rubber boat, giving it a playful aesthetic. It is equipped with vertically long LED headlights that enhance its striking appearance. This concept embodies Nissan’s vision for a new dimension of automotive enjoyment, catering to a youthful, active demographic.

A standout feature is the innovative "center slot in roof" concept, which allows the glass panels to stow away in the center without compromising luggage space. This flexible design enables occupants to customize their level of openness, as both the glass roof and windows can be adjusted independently. The glass roof is treated with a special film that helps control light reflection and transmission, enhancing comfort during sunny drives.

Inside, the Redigo is filled with inventive ideas to enhance the driving experience. It features a "twin cluster" display system, which includes a stationary driver-side display that shows essential driving information like speed and warnings, and a movable passenger-side display for navigation and entertainment. The interior materials are chosen for their durability and functionality, incorporating water-resistant components that support leisure activities. Soft, glossy urethane is used in the door trim and headrests, while cheerful mesh covers the seatbacks.

Although the Redigo targets the youthful and active market, akin to the Citroën Pluriel, its likelihood of reaching production is low. The concept embraces a spirit of adventure and fun, encouraging potential buyers to adopt a more daring lifestyle. While the design is unconventional, it aligns with trends seen in other vehicles, hinting at a playful spirit reminiscent of models like the Honda Element or the Scion line. Overall, the Nissan Redigo concept encapsulates the idea of an engaging and connected driving experience for a vibrant generation.
