2001 Nissan Ideo Concept

The 2001 Nissan Ideo Concept, showcased at the Tokyo Auto Show, presented Nissan's vision for a "Network Vehicle" focused on the telematic experience. Resembling the Ford 24-7 concept, the Ideo was designed as more than just a car; it aimed to be a rolling receptacle for the telematic era.

The entire dashboard of the Ideo served as a display panel capable of presenting information and images. Equipped with cameras positioned around the car, the Ideo promised "expressive navigation" for a unique driving experience. Positioned as a "Network Vehicle," it allowed motorists to access real-time information from the urban environment. The objective was to connect the closed passenger compartment to the outside world, facilitating efficient access to the diverse information available in the city.

Functioning as a medium for communication, the Ideo aimed to provide occupants with an enjoyable experience of interacting with places of interest around town. Described as a means to browse the vast sea of information in the urban environment, driving the Ideo was likened to surfing the virtual world of the Internet.

In terms of appearance, the Ideo was characterized as a "computer mouse on wheels," crawling around the city to collect information. It featured a steering wheel and offered a unique driving experience, displaying information such as cinema programs, ticket costs, and parking availability on a large screen. The dimensions of the Ideo were listed as 3600x1700x1620 mm, with a wheelbase of 2730 mm. While specific details about the engine and transmission were not disclosed, the emphasis was on its innovative role in connecting technology and urban mobility.
