Meet Peugeot's City Toyz Concepts: VrooMster, E-doll, Bobslid & Kart Up

In the year 2000, Peugeot dared to dream beyond the conventional realms of automotive design, introducing a lineup of four 'City Toyz' – whimsical concept cars that weren't just vehicles but a celebration of the joy of motoring. These recreational wonders, born from the imaginative minds at Peugeot's Style Centre, transported us to an imaginary town where driving was not just a means of transport but an embodiment of passion, freedom, aesthetic beauty, architecture, and technology.

The four Peugeot City Toyz Concepts include the following:

2000 Peugeot VrooMster Concept

The 2000 Peugeot VrooMster Concept emerged as a tandem vehicle that defied categorization. With a sleek carbon-fiber body adorned in shiny black and flashy green, it measured 3.16m long, 1.36m high, and featured a wheelbase of 2.10m and a width of 1.52m. The driver and passenger experienced motoring pleasure in individual seats, steering with a unique 'handlebar steering wheel.' The tough yet spirited car boasted a twin-cam sixteen-valve engine based on the Peugeot 206, delivering 110 bhp.

2000 Peugeot E-doll Concept

The 2000 Peugeot E-doll Concept, approximately 2.5m long, embraced a quirky design perfect for the urban landscape. Its self-supporting carbon fiber body accommodated three people in the front, driven by a central driver using veritable scooter handlebars. The orange-yellow 'dodgem-car,' standing at 1.29m high, featured a distinctive look with 10" front wheels and twin rear wheels. Its standout feature was a detachable transparent trunk, serving as a practical trolley for shopping adventures.

2000 Peugeot Bobslid Concept

The 2000 Peugeot Bobslid Concept redefined electric cars with a four-wheel-drive layout and a unique interior structure. The carbon fiber bathtub/girder housed three longitudinally adjustable seats, a large storage area, and a glass roof that tipped up for access. This engineering-free marvel was driven by four wheels, each powered by ten small 500W motors, totaling 20kW. With no steering wheel, the 'bobslid' relied on two levers or 'joy-sticks' for steering, creating an electrifying driving experience.

Measuring 3.28m in length and 1.52m in width, this neatly-sized roadster brought ground-level seating, protected by a windscreen/glass roof forming a bubble. Its sleek design, equipped with innovative headlights, showcased Peugeot's commitment to pushing the boundaries of traditional roadsters.
