The 2004 Stola S85 Prototype was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show to commemorate Stola S.p.A.'s 85th anniversary, highlighting the company's legacy in high-quality prototype manufacturing and Turin's renowned coachbuilding tradition. Based on the Lancia Thesis, the S85 paid tribute to Stola's long-standing relationship with Lancia, which began in 1919 when the company was commissioned to build the Lambda show car. The most striking difference from the standard Thesis was an extended length, increased by 600mm, achieved without the awkward proportions typical of stretched limousines. Stola carefully redesigned the upper and side surfaces, including glass and roof trim, to maintain a harmonious and cohesive form. The two-tone amaranth color scheme was inspired by classic limousines from the 1930s and 1940s, achieved through a specialized bicolor paint process.
The interior was crafted with an exceptional focus on luxury and sophistication. The rear floor was entirely flat and finished in wood, while all interior surfaces were upholstered in premium Frau leather. The rear seats were fully adjustable, and the cabin featured numerous high-end amenities, including diffused lighting, a drinks cooler, and the advanced LWD Mobile Car System from Informatica Delta S.p.A. This system provided a comprehensive mobile office experience, offering GPS navigation, global email and fax capabilities, and seamless internet connectivity. It also supported in-car entertainment options such as DVD movies, video games, and MP3 playback. The Stola S85 showcased the company’s ability to blend craftsmanship, innovation, and advanced technology into a refined and luxurious vehicle.
