Based on the Vallelunga (De Tomaso’s first car) and styled by Giugiaro while he was working at Ghia. The Pampero could have been an interesting mid-engined (a 1.5-liter Ford 4-cylinder engine powered it) roadster. Still, De Tomaso lacked the resources to put the car into production at a realistic price, and in any case, they wished to concentrate on more profitable supercars.
