The Daihatsu Copen ZZ concept, shown in 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, was a higher-performance version of the small Copen roadster. It was fitted with a 1.5-liter DOHC 16-valve DVVT engine, much larger than the engines used in the standard Copen at the time.

The body was widened and slightly lengthened, making the car 110 mm longer and 125 mm wider for a more aggressive stance and better handling. The concept previewed a larger-engine version of the Copen that later reached production as the Copen Z, which used a 1.3-liter engine.
