2001 Volkswagen W12 Nardo Concept (Track Version)

In the subsequent development of the Volkswagen W12 Nardo Concept, a notable track version emerged, showcasing its performance capabilities. In a pivotal moment later that year, the W12 Nardo underwent its first track testing. In these initial real-world trials, the car demonstrated remarkable prowess by achieving average speeds of 183.5 mph (295.3 kph) over an impressive distance of 4,402 miles (7,084 km), thereby securing its first world record.

Undeterred by its initial success, the black prototype of the W12 Nardo, adorned with distinctive golden BBS rims, returned to the track on February 23, 2002. This marked the commencement of another series of rigorous tests. Astonishingly, the vehicle not only maintained but surpassed its previous achievement, boasting an average speed of 200.6 mph (322.8 kph) over a distance of 4,809 miles (7,739 km) within a 24-hour period.

This remarkable performance resulted in the W12 Nardo setting new benchmarks, as it clinched an impressive total of seven world records and twelve international class records. The achievement underscored the exceptional engineering and speed capabilities of the Volkswagen W12 Nardo Concept, solidifying its status as a groundbreaking and record-setting vehicle in the automotive world.
