2001 Nissan mm Concept

The 2001 Nissan mm Concept, known as ニッサン エムエム コンセプト (Nissan Emu Emu Concept), redefines the compact car segment with a focus on superior packaging and an array of convenience features. Despite its modest 3,695 mm overall length, the mm Concept comfortably accommodates four adults, offering interior comfort comparable to larger vehicles. The exterior design features a pleasing balance of rounded forms and sharp character lines, creating a fresh and attractive appearance. Positioned at the four corners, 15" tires convey a sense of stability, while distinctive headlamps and playful design cues contribute to its stylish demeanor.

Inside the compact body, the mm Concept provides surprising roominess, akin to a medium-class sedan, thanks to its long wheelbase of 2,430 mm. The instrument panel's outward rounding and the use of fabric-like materials impart warmth and quality to the interior. Meticulously coordinated color schemes and detailed control systems elevate the mm Concept's interior to exceptionally high quality for a compact car.

Practicality and driving ease are emphasized, with excellent visibility, a tilt steering column, and a ratchet-type driver's seat lifter allowing for an optimum driving position. Large 15" tires and a minimum turning radius contribute to outstanding maneuverability. The vehicle incorporates numerous storage spaces, including a spacious 11-liter glove box, foldaway cup holders, and a center console bin, enhancing its practicality for everyday use.

The mm Concept introduces a smart entry system that detects the user's portable control unit and locks or unlocks doors with a button push. This system also controls all doors and enables engine start without inserting a key when the control unit is inside, adding a layer of convenience to the driving experience.

In terms of environmental and safety features, the mm Concept is powered by a newly developed small 4-cylinder inline engine prioritizing fuel economy and environmental friendliness. The platform design, featuring a dual anti-vibration subframe at the front and a torsion beam at the rear, contributes to exceptional ride comfort and quietness. Safety features include curtain and side airbags, xenon headlamps, large-capacity brakes, Braking Assist, ABS, and EBD systems. The mm Concept adopts Nissan's E・4WD system, providing 4WD capability only when needed, enhancing its overall economical performance.

With technical specifications including an overall length of 3,695 mm, overall width of 1,660 mm, overall height of 1,525 mm, and a seating capacity for five, the Nissan mm Concept aims to set a new standard in compact cars by combining style, practicality, and environmental consciousness.
