MG has revealed the 2026 MG GO! Concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, giving an early look at the small electric hatchback expected to become the production MG2 in 2027. The five-door concept mixes modern EV styling with influences from classic MG models, including the MGB GT, Metro 6R4, Metro Turbo and ZR.
Retro-Inspired Design
Created by a design team led by Karl Gotham, the MG GO! Concept introduces what MG calls a retro-futuristic direction. It has a sloping hood, straight roofline, black A-pillars and concealed B-pillars that give the side profile a clean appearance.
At the front, rounded headlights use a pixel-style lighting pattern, while vertical lighting elements sit at the outer edges. There is no traditional grille, although a mesh air intake remains in the lower bumper. Flared wheel arches, two-tone wheels and low-profile tires give the small hatchback a much wider and sportier stance.
The sides feature slim horizontal mirrors, recessed front door handles and hidden rear handles. GO! graphics appear along the lower body. At the back, MG adds a large black roof spoiler, prominent diffuser and taillights with a pattern that matches the headlights.
Preview of the MG2
The MG GO! is expected to influence the upcoming MG2, a small production electric car planned for 2027. Some of the concept's more dramatic details are unlikely to reach production, but its basic five-door shape and overall design direction provide a preview of what buyers can expect.
MG has not announced battery capacity, electric motor output, driving range or other technical specifications for the GO! Concept.

A New Small Electric MG
The 2026 MG GO! Concept shows how MG plans to bring more personality to its next generation of affordable electric cars. Its wide arches, retro-inspired lighting and compact five-door shape make it considerably more playful than a typical small EV.
The production MG2 will likely be less extreme, but the GO! suggests that MG wants its smallest electric model to stand out rather than simply compete on price and range.
