2001 Subaru WX-01 Concept by I.DE.A

The 2001 Subaru WX-01 Concept by I.DE.A was conceived as a potential new style for the Forester and Legacy station wagons. This concept car, built in 2001 by I.DE.A Institute, aimed to refresh the design language of Subaru's wagon models. The WX-01 utilized a well-known platform featuring a flat-six engine and an all-wheel-drive transmission.

Designed to accommodate families, the Subaru WX-01 incorporated a unique seating formula of 2+3+2, providing space for seven occupants. Notably, the trunk featured additional "children's" seats, enhancing the car's practicality for family use.

While the interior design received positive feedback, there were suggestions for further refinement of the exterior aesthetics. The concept was part of Subaru's exploration for a fresh design direction for its wagon lineup.
