2001 Toyota DMT Concept

The Toyota DMT Concept, introduced in 2001, stands out as a front-wheel-drive minivan equipped with a powerful 2.4-liter engine. Despite its impressive dimensions (4850x1825x2030 mm) and a wheelbase of 2900 mm, the DMT is designed to accommodate a maximum of two individuals. The unique aspect lies in the name, where DMT stands for Dual Mode Traveler, emphasizing its dual nature.

In Drive mode, the DMT offers a solitary travel experience with its high cabin exuding a maritime ambiance. The spacious interior ensures excellent visibility, while a roof window adds to the feeling of openness. Advanced features such as cruise control with radar enhance highway driving, maintaining a set distance from the vehicle in front even during slow-moving traffic. For improved rear visibility, a television camera transmits images to monitors in the cockpit. The DMT also assists drivers in reversing maneuvers by providing guidance on steering wheel adjustments.

Switching to Stay mode, the DMT transforms its rear volume into a versatile space with a low flat floor. Users can customize this space according to their preferences, turning it into a laboratory or observatory, showcasing the vehicle's adaptability.

The interior of the DMT is characterized by simplicity, brightness, and attractiveness. The elevated seating position provides an excellent view of the road, complemented by a retractable sunroof for a relaxing driving experience. The cabin is designed for versatility, with a partition and height variance separating the front and rear areas. Moveable steps facilitate easy access between these two spaces.

The Toyota DMT Concept incorporates a range of functions, including Radar Cruise Control, lane deviation alarm, multi-monitor system, blind corner monitor, ETC for automatic expressway toll payment, DSRC system for automatic parking fee payment, emergency reporting system, and voice-controlled navigation and audio system.

The DMT's technical specifications include a front-mounted inline-4 engine with a displacement of 2400 cc. The wheelbase measures 2900 mm, and the overall dimensions are 4850 mm in length, 1825 mm in width, and 2030 mm in height.

In summary, the Toyota DMT Concept is a multipurpose vehicle that offers a blend of advanced features, adaptability, and a unique dual-mode travel experience for personal interests and diverse activities.
